Kangs and Rebels Both Open League Play With Victories

Theo Alexander's three-run homer powers LW, while Juanita gets a strong performance on the mound and a homer from Taylor Dantini.

 

The Rebels and Kangaroos both opened 3A KingCo League play Monday night with victories. The Rebs beat Mercer Island 3-1 with strong pitching and a home run by Taylor Dantini, while the Kangs whipped Sammamish 8-1, getting all the scoring they needed on Theo Alexander’s three-run homer.

Nick Johnson went the distance on the mound for LW with seven strikeouts in the game at Sammamish. Alac Wong went 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in two runs. Jeremy Parhhurst went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Victor Mayorquin was 2-for-4 with a double.

Three Juanita pitchers limited the Islanders to three hits in the game at in Kirkland, with Dantini going four innings for the win, striking out four. Michael Petter went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Brad Close went 2-for-2, scoring a run.

The Rebels (2-2 overall and 1-0 in league play) travel to Sammamish Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. start. The Kangs (5-2 and 1-0) take on Liberty at Lee Johnson Field Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. start.
