Lake Washington High School's star outfielder and power hitter Theo Alexander was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball player draft on Tuesday, the 236th player taken overall.
"I feel great," Alexander said. "I'm really glad that the Dodgers picked me up."
Alexander said that the Dodgers contacted him a couple of rounds before he was selected, asked about the possibility of signing him, and later made the pick.
"I couldn't be any happier," Alexander said.
Alexander said that he will be signing professionally instead of attending college and is making plans to play for the Dodger's Rookie Ball team in Arizona. Once there Alexander says he hopes to get bigger and stronger and eventually catch the eye of the big club's general manager.
"I hope to make it there as fast as possible," Alexander said.
