LW and Juanita Students Earn Honors at State Music Contest

"State Superior" ratings and a bronze medal were awarded in several categories.

Several students from and high schools received "State Superior" ratings and one earned a bronze medal at the recent Washington State Solo and Ensemble Contest in Ellensburg, Wa.

A State Superior rating is “a performance at the highest level of artistry and technical proficiency that can be expected of a high school student.”

In order to compete at the state level, students had to win in their instrument or vocal category at one of 22 regional contests across the state. The LW and Juanita students all reached the state competition after strong performances at the Northlake Regional & Solo Ensemble Festival at Bothell in February, as noted in an earlier Kirkland Patch story.
