Redmond High Student Receives Community Award

Junior Jillian Roels was recognized for making a positive impact in the community.

Jillian Roels, a junior, has been awarded a Brotherton Community Champion award for making a positive impact on her community, putting her in the running for a $5,000 scholarship.

Roels is a varsity cheerleader at RHS and is also Miss Redmond Teen USA, vying for the title of Miss Washington Teen USA this month.

Roels works to make a positive impact in her community through Girl Talk, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring junior high girls through positive weekly meetings. She opened a chapter of Girl Talk in Redmond, which meets weekly at the Re/Max Preference office.

She also runs her own nonprofit organization, Spark Your Heart, dedicated to inspiring random acts of kindness. Spark Your Heart volunteers write positive notes to service men and women, send gifts, and send holiday cards to active living communities.
