Suspended LW Softball Coach Will Not Return

Troy Hennum will not face disciplinary action for texting a student in violation of district policy, but he will not coach at Lake Washington next year, says the school's athletic director.

softball coach Troy Hennum will not face disciplinary action for violating district policy by texting a student, but he will not coach at the school next year, says LW Athletic Director George Crowder.

Hennum pending an investigation, prompted when he texted a softball team member in violation of Lake Washington School District policy, according to an investigative report.

Meanwhile, an investigation continues about unspecified actions of baseball coach Sherman Leach, who was by the district in April, said district spokeswoman Kathryn Reith.

Kirkland Patch requested the district’s investigative reports on both cases, but Reith said the one regarding Leach will not be released until the investigation is finished.

According to the report on Hennum, he texted the team member in March during a stay in Wenatchee for a tournament. Hennum said he was attempting to help a student through a difficult time on a team issue, and regretted sending the text. The report said the investigation began after a complaint from another high school coach.

The district found no cause for disciplinary action--such as a letter of reprimand. But Lake Washington AD Crowder said in an email to Kirkland Patch that “Troy Hennum will not be coaching @ LW next year.”

Kirkland Patch has attempted to contact Hennum and will update this story if he replies.

In other Kirkland high school sports news, Lake Washington acting basketball coach Brian Lund will be coaching next school year at Redmond High, his alma mater. Lund, a ‘91 Redmond grad, was named acting coach at LW after amid allegations of sexual harassment earlier this year.

Crowder said the Lake Washington basketball coaching position is open and has not yet been filled.

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
