Juanita Hangs In, But Finally Falls to Powerful Mount Si

Kleis and Caldwell both strong at the plate in 12-8 loss.

The Juanita High School baseball team took an early lead and stayed in the game until the last inning before falling 12-8 to conference-leading, sixth-ranked Mount Si Thursday night at Peter Kirk Park.

The Rebels scored in the bottom of the first and led until the fourth inning, which ended with the game tied 2-2. Si scored three and Juanita one in the fourth, and both teams scored five runs in the sixth. Si finished out the scoring with two runs in the top of the seventh.

JJ Caldwell had two hits in three at-bats for the Rebels with a double. Colten Kleis went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Jyran McNairy went 1-for-1 with two RBIs.

Anchoring the powerful Si offense were Trevor Lane, 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, Dustin Breshears, 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Nate Sinner, 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Juanita plays Bellevue tonight at Lee Johnson Field in Peter Kirk Park, 7pm.
