The Top Five Worst Excuses Not To Exercise

What is your excuse for not exercising? We all have them from time to time. My bet is, for every excuse you have there is away around it. You just have to get creative.

1. Exercise is boring! Make it fun by exercising and socializing! Enlist a friend or group of friends to exercise with you a few days a week. Each week, someone in the group gets to pick the activity. My favorite...walk and talk to lunch. Park 3-miles away from your favorite lunch spot. Walk to your destination. Enjoy a yummy (healthy) lunch and then walk back 3-miles.

2. I can’t afford a gym membership! Here are some tips to help shrink your waist, but not your wallet. A. You can get any type of exercise class on your computer. You don’t have to wait for them to arrive in the mail, they’re digital! My favorites are Amy Dixon's Videos. B. Call around local fitness studios, they often let you try a class or two for free. C. Pop into your local lululemon! They offer free classes every week right in their store! This is a great place to pick up free passes for local studios as well. D. Like a certain studio but can’t afford their prices? Speak to the owner, ask if you can work a few hours a week in exchange of free classes.

3. I’m too old to exercise! Ha! I disagree! You’re never too old. A matter of fact, one of the biggest fitness trends is classes for seniors. Check out Silver Sneakers for a class near you.

4. I don’t have a babysitter! Show your kids that you make your health a priority. Here are a few tips to help you get started. AIf you have younger children, find out where Stollersize or Baby Boot Camp classes are being held in your neighborhood. Your baby or toddler can come along for the work out in their stroller. B. Join a gym that offers daycare. C. PLAY with your child! Kids exercise and they don’t even know it, you’ll have so much fun with them perhaps you won’t even know it!
D. Take turns babysitting with a friend.  She or he babysits while you go out for a walk or run and then you do the same for her (after a shower of course).

5. I’m lost at the gym! We all need a little guidance sometimes.
A. Make an appointment with a trainer. Even if you just use them once. They can design a program for you to do on your own. B. Get involved with group fitness. It’s easy to walk into a class. The teacher will tell you what to do from there.

Stop making excuses! I promise you'll never regret it when your done!
