Republican Reading List

I know it's a bit late - post Labor Day and all - to be giddy over a Summer Reading List. But I came across this one and I just had to share.

Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and “The Holy Bible” are just two books on the King County Republican’s Summer Reading List. Other gems such as Marco Rubio’s “American Son” also made the grade.

In addition, the “Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States of America, Bill of Rights and Constitutional Amendments by Benjamin Franklin” is also a recommended title. During your reading you'll just have to overlook the fact that Benjamin Franklin did not author the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, or the Bill of Rights. (The complete list can be read at this link: https://www.kcgop.org/blog/loris-summer-reads/)

Many excellent political books came out this summer. To name just three: “The Revolutionary Summary” by Joseph J. Ellis, “Bunker Hill: A City, a Siege, a Revolution” by Nathaniel Philbrick, and “1775: A Good Year for Revolution” by Kevin Phillips. And yet why the Republican Party’s Chairperson, Lori Sotelo, is urging constituents to spend humid summer evenings poring over Hitler’s personal anecdotes baffles me.

I won’t contemplate the Republican's reading list for too long. The State Republican Party just elected a new Chairperson, Susan Hutchison. I just hope, for the sake of Republicans everywhere, that she is well-read.
