Pet of the Week: All Nanook Needs is Love

Low maintenance 12-year-old longhair gets along with other cats, people and even dogs.

Nanook, which is Inuit for polar bear, doesn't look anything like a big white bruin and he isn't from the north. But he is almost as tough as a bear, pretty much taking care of himself as a low-maintenance, 12-year-old cat who gets along with everyone.

He's a beautiful longhair in great health and is also polydactyl -- this means he has extra toes so he looks like he has mittens! He's had a string of bad luck, first returned to in Houghton because of a divorce. He was soon adopted again, but his owner became seriously ill and was forced to surrender her beloved Nanook. She was absolutely heartbroken, but knew it would best for Nanook.Β

Nanook recently had his blood and urine checked and all values came back completely normal. He is up-to-date on his vaccines and has been micro-chipped.

He has lived with other cats and was quite fond of the family Schnauzer. He is most appreciative of attention and lots of love. If you have some to spare, if you might be able to change his luck, see www.meowcatrescue.org or call 425-822-6369.
