Pet of the Week: Soft-Hearted Zinnia

Found abandoned, this delicate and loving kitten is doing well now, but has a heart condition she might have to face in the future.

Zinnia was born last April, found abandoned with her sisters and taken to a high-kill shelter that was unable to care for them. The wee ones were quickly transferred to , a no-kill shelter in Houghton and placed in a foster home specializing in bottle babies.

So Zinnia has always known the loving hands of humans and loves being touched and held. However, while growing up in her foster home, it was discovered that little Zinnia has a heart condition that could shorten her life.

She's doing well right now, is confident in herself and loves other cats and kittens. She isn't on any special foods or medications, but does have the potential for issues in the future.

Zinnia is like a little flower, all girl, delicate and proper. She loves to play, but she's also a little lap kitty already. Being the typical kitten that she is, she will play with anything that moves -- or doesn't. She has perfect litter box habits and loves a good scratching post.

When it's time to sleep, she loves to snuggle. Zinnia adores people and other cats, but dogs and children are an unknown. If you think you could show her the understanding she might need in her uncertain future, and want an adoring friend, please see www.meowcatrescue.org or call 425-822-6369.
