Pets of the Week: Pretty Kitties Downy and Shasta Aren't Sisters But Act Like It

They both arrived at MEOW Cat Rescue in Houghton as tiny orphaned babies, eyes barely open.

Downy, a gorgeous medium-hair blue kitty, and Shasta, a pretty short-hair brown tabby, are not realy sisters, but are so bonded they act just like it.

Currently residing at Houghton's MEOW Cat Rescue shelter, they are full of life, adventure and affection. They love to be around humans and other cats and are just as outgoing, happy and healthyΒ as can be.

Dogs are an unknown though, and shelter staff feel they are so close they must be adopted as a pair.

Although they aren't siblings, these kittens have a lot in common. They both arrived as tiny orphaned babies, who were just beginning to see the world as their eyes were opening. They were bottle fed until they were old enough to eat kitten food -- and have grown like little weeds since then.

Downy is three months old and Shasta is five months old. Downy was found under a tree with no mother in sight, and Shasta's mother died tragically shortly after she was born.

Downy and Shasta are perfect little ladies about using the litterbox. They have both been spayed, received a series of vaccines and dewormings and are micro-chipped. They are ready to leave the nest and find their a new home.

If you can provide a home for the pair or would like to check them out, see www.meowcatrescue.org or call 425-822-6369.
