Pets of the Week: Never a Dull Moment for Orphan Siblings Harlow, Trundle

Cute little bundles of excitement lost their mother at 10 days and now need a home.

Orphans Harlow and Trundle are adorable siblings who came to MEOW Cat Rescue in Houghton at 10 days old and are so bonded they must be adopted as a pair.

They were bottle-feed until they were old enough to eat solid foods, and are now energetic little fur-babies that make every day fun. Harlow is a siamese mix lynx point female and Trundle is a domestic short hair brown tabby male.

They have been in the care of indefatigable MEOW Cat volunteer Marilyn Hendrickson.

Their mother was a family cat who became gravely ill after giving birth, but was not taken to a veterinarian for 10 days. There it was discovered that a kitten had been stuck in the suffering mother cat's birth canal. The kitten was dead, and the poor mother had become septic and had to be euthanized.

The vet called MEOW, and the two beautiful kittens were placed in the capable and caring hands of Hendrickson. Today they are 13 weeks old, absolutely healthy and prone to playing until they are tired, then finding a cozy spot -- often in any available lap -- to snuggle up together.

Hendrickson says they like to help make beds by hiding and leaping in and out of the blankets each morning, and that they are as friendly and happy as two kittens can be.

Harlow and Trundle have been spayed/neutered, received a series of vaccines and dewormings, have been tested for FeLV/FIV and are also microchipped. At the time of adoption they will be sent home with a "Free Well Kitty Exam" voucher that can be redeemed at most King County veterinarian offices.
