Ponies and Pancakes: Annual Bridle Trails Party in the Park on Saturday

The Bridle Trails Park Foundation's 10th annual fundraiser is a terrific family event withe pony rides, face painting, cake walks, equestrian team drills and a 10k run,

 

Equestrians will be drilling, knights jousting, kids pony-riding, pancakes flipping and runners running Saturday during the Bridle Trails Park Foundation’s 10th Annual Party in the Park on Saturday.

It’s the annual family oriented festival that helps raise money for the non-profit foundation, which pays for half of ’s operating costs through an unusual agreement with Washington State Parks. A green, 482-acre gem on Rose Hill between Kirkland, Bellevue and Redmond, the equestrian-oriented state park features 28 miles of forest trails and a main showgrounds.

The party is centered around the showgrounds, at NE 53rd and 116th NE, and this year will feature a fun run as well as a 10k run, pancake breakfast, pony rides, face-painting, cake walks, nature walks and a host of equestrian events.

The latter include drill teams, the Seattle Knights team, show horses and more. It’s a popular event with a country fair feel (see a Kirkland Patch photo gallery of ), and because the parking lot will be jammed with horse trailers, a free shuttle service will be provided. Buses will pick people up at the , across from , with the shuttle making trips every 10 minutes from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.

The run starts at 7:30, but the party is from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You can find details on the foundation’s website, bridletrails.org.
