Halloween Goes to the Dogs

Tricks and treats at special events on our dog-friendly Eastside, mean a howling good time for the whole family.

Minnie is still trying to decide what to wear for Halloween this year, and apparently, from this photo, either doesn't care for things on her head or is as sad as I am to see our run at Patch end.

We're not sure if we'll continue to blog about Minnie's adventures around our dog-friendly Eastside, but even so, we hope you'll use this open blog to share your pet tales/tails.

Now on to the fun stuff! As our pets become ever-bigger members of our families, they increasingly get their own events to have a barking good time on holidays, and Halloween is no exception. This year, Americans are likely to spend more than $300 million on costumes for their pets!

We can't have our little doggies all dressed up with no where to go, so here are some places for them to Go Dog Go this season:

  • Join in the "Howl"-o-ween Parade at Redmond Saturday Market on Saturday, Oct. 26 at noon. Dress up your furry friend and walk in the parade-you could win a prize! It's going to be so much fun!!!
  • On Wednesday, Oct. 30, head over to Kirkland's Woodmark Hotel for the second annual Howl-at-the-Moon Muttmixer! There will be a costume contest with awesome prizes and of course, tricks for treats!  Costume categories include: Best Pack (group), Best Dog + Owner Pair, Funniest, Most Original and of course, Scariest. Costumes not required, but strongly encouraged, because it's fun! The event is sponsored by the Woodmark and City Dog Magazine.
  • “Howl”-o-ween Trick or Treat at Redmond Town Center on Thursday, Oct. 31. No tricks! Just treats at participating stores. Plus, take a Halloween photo with your pet.
On that fun note, Minnie and I wish you all many happy walks and a wonderful Halloween!
