Extra curricular activities include sports such as girls' badminton, boys' tennis and wrestling. There are sports for every quarter. The Quest Program for gifted students has a full-time program at Kamiakin. There is an active PTSA helping to make the school experience positive for students and parents.
Futures School at Juanita High

Futures School is an alternative high school and one of the Lake Washington district's "Choice" schools.More Enrollment is limited to 75 students who are taught in a more personal way, in a small, positive environment where independent critical thinking skills are emphasized and students can receive individual attention. Graduation rates are high, and the curriculum also focuses on social skills through events such as retreats and outdoors challenge courses where team-building is important.</p> <p>Students are also given more options to achieve goals, such as e-learning, and are given meaningful work with real-life connections. Semesters are split into three sessions, and students must pass two to remain in the school. Those who pass all three receive greater credit toward graduation than students in traditional class.</p> <p>The school's classrooms are within Juanita High.</p>

International Community School

International Community School (ICS) is a Choice School, open to students from around Lake Washington School District.More The school's focus is on six core content areas: international studies, humanities, world languages, the arts, science and math. The school's emphasis is on depth of understanding and interconnected learning. ICS is ranked #17 out of the best U.S. high schools by 2007 <em>U.S. News and World Report </em>
The H Shop

Formerly The Honda Shop, owner Todd Littlefield has been servicing Hondas and Acuras in the area since 1985. TrueMore locals, the owner's family boasts three generations of Lake Washington High School graduates.  Though the shop doesn't do body work, it offers nearly every other service, from brakes and belts, to transmissions and tune-ups.
Environmental and Adventure School

One of Lake Washington School District's "Choice" schools, open to students grades 6-9 across the district,More Environmental and Adventure School offers a nature-based curriculum focusing on the interdependence of people and the environment. Education is outdoors focused, with regular field trips and stewardship projects. Core subjects are language arts, social studies, science, math, Spanish, art, fitness and health, with a focus on research, writing, technology and oral presentations.</p> <p>Results of standard state tests in 2008-09 found students scoring well above state and district averages in virtually every category. Environmental School is housed in one building at Finn Hill Junior High, and students have full access to all facilities. New classrooms will be provided for the Environmental School with the completion of a major modernization project at Finn Hill in the fall of 2011.</p>

Lee Johnson is a family-owned auto dealership that has served Kirkland for several decades. The sprawling complexMore includes individual showrooms for Chevrolet and Mazda vehicles. The garage repairs those cars and is also a certified Saturn repair center.</p> <p>Lee Johnson is involved in many local schools and charitable functions, including Lake Washington High School, the Angel Care Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon and the American Heart Association Heart Walk.</p>
