PHOTO GALLERY: Kirkland's Fourth of July Parades and Duck Dash

Big crowds turn out downtown in perfect weather for the city's signature summertime celebration.

Several thousand residents and guests turned out out under clear blue skies Monday for Kirkland's annual Fourth of July celebration -- two festive, patriotic "red, white and blue" parades and the Rotary Club's annual Duck Dash.

Spectators covered virtually every spot of the sidewalks along the parade route downtown, starting on Market Street and then heading east up Central Way, south on Main Street and then west down Kirkland Avenue to .

The festivities began with a kids parade, followed by an old-fashioned, patriotic Fourth of July parade. Sponsored by Celebrate Kirkland, the festivities were to culminate Monday night with a spectacular fireworks show.
