Spring!! Kirkland Style!!

When the month of March hits 50 degrees in Kirkland we go hog wild. We rush home to turn down the heat on the thermostat.

WHEN WEATHER in March or April hits 50 degrees in Kirkland, we go hog wild. We rush home to turn down the heat on the thermostat. By 55 degrees we are looking around for our shorts and capris. If the 50 or 55 degrees has a bit of sun accompanying it, we are driving up and down Holmes Point Drive and Market Street to see the sunny plants getting more lovely!

The dads of Kirkland are united in going out to the yard to see how the lawn mower is looking. He starts it up and off he goes. The mommies rush off to Flower World or Molbak to pack in the plants. As far as the kids (who I really relate to), they are thinking of the new forts they are going to build. Or they are checking out the ball field. Also they take a look at the back yard to see what comes after the winter weather.

As far as the fashion for the peeps in Kirkland, the $100+ boots get tossed for the heels, the capris get rolled out and the cute, cute lighter tops are revealed. But...when 50 degrees become more of the norm, back come the boots!

The next phase of the Kirkland/Northwest spring is dining on a balcony or anywhere outside! As a former restaurant worker, I sure know those eateries don't want to open the balcony until at least May. We love it as patrons though, and we try it in as soon as the sun peeks out, and we get about halfway through looking at the menu and then go right back into the restaurant. But we see light at the end of the tunnel in Kirkland!

This time of year also means spring break, and I can see on Facebook that the BFFs are all headed home from glamorous locales  and some of us need to plan Spring Break earlier. Keeping up with the BFFs is hard when the weather doesn't cooperate. Lately I see so many of the strollers are getting broken in, and the runners are stretching and doing push ups in Houghton!
