Lend a Hand! Green Kirkland Partnership Needs Help on MLK Day

The Green Kirkland Partnership will work to restore the Carillon Woods in Houghton on Jan. 21 by removing invasive plants.

Dear Green Kirkland Partnership Supporter,

Do something great on Monday Jan. 21 during the Martin Luther King Day of Service! Volunteer to restore the forest at Carillon Woods in Kirkland. A Washington Conservation Corps crew and a Green Kirkland Steward will show you how to remove harmful invasive plants.

Date: Monday January 21

Time: 10 am to 2 pm

Place: Carillon Woods (5429 106th Ave NE, Kirkland 98033)

See directions below.  Please arrive early to find parking and allow time for sign-in.  

Sponsor: The Urban Forestry Restoration Project, administered by the Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program (DNR)

Suitable for: Adults, Teens, and Families. Minors under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. Youth 14 to 17 years must be accompanied by an adult, or bring a signed city waiver form, or a parent/guardian to sign you in.

What to Bring

  • Dress for the weather and wear layers of comfortable clothing
  • Sturdy shoes or boots
  • Work gloves if you have your own (we also provide them)
  • Lunch
  • Water bottle

Directions: Map

From I-405 Southbound, take exit 17 toward NE 70th Place, turn left onto NE 72nd Place. NE 72nd Place becomes NE 68th Street. Turn left/south onto 108th Avenue NE. Turn right/west onto NE 55th St, then left/south onto 106th Ave NE.  Meet at the corner of 106th Ave NE and NE 55th St.  Street parking available.

From I-405 Northbound, merge onto WA-520 W via exit 14 and take the 108th Avenue NE exit. Turn right onto 108th Avenue NE. Continue along 108th Avenue NE. Turn left/west onto NE 53rd Street then turn right onto 106th Avenue NE.  Meet at the corner of 106th Ave NE and NE 55th St.  Street parking available.
