Pet of the Week: Pretty Kitty Needs Good Home

Orange and white tabby 'PT' is independent, but purrs for attention

PT is an affectionate and independent cat who likes people and “will purr for pets,” said Marilyn Hendrickson, marketing director for , the nonproft group in Houghton that saves homeless pets.

The orange and white tabby gets along well with his fellow felines, but would probably do best in a home without dogs. When it comes to humans, PT would thrive in a family with older children who understand how to respect his space.

Speaking of space, this is a kitty who likes to take a little time getting used to new places. His friends at the animal shelter suggest confining PT in a closed room to give him a chance to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. They also recommend spending lots of quality time with PT, so he can get to know you, and vice versa.

For fun, PT enjoys scratching -- posts, sisal, cardboard and the classic carpeted cat post are his favorites. This kitty was returned to Meow when his owner moved and couldn’t bring PT with him. PT is neutered, up-to-date with routine shots, and house-trained.
