Traffic Alert: Expects Delays for '12K’s of Christmas' Run Dec. 16

Some 3,000 runners are expected for the event on two routes, with many lane closures downtown, in Houghton, along Lake Washington Boulevard and the West of Market area.

KIRKLAND, Wash – Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the “12K’s of Christmas Holiday Run” to be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012. The following lanes will be closed, and boat launch access will be unavailable, from 9:20 a.m. until the final athlete finishes at approximately 12 p.m.  A course map is posted online at www.kirklandwa.gov/specialevents.

5K Route

  • East and Westbound lanes of Kirkland Avenue from Lake Shore Plaza Drive to Main Street
  • Eastbound lane of Kirkland Avenue from Main Street to 6th Street
  • Southbound lane of 6th Street from Kirkland Avenue to NE 68th Street
  • Westbound lane of NE 68th Street from 6th Street South to Lakeview Drive
  • Southbound lane of Lakeview Drive from NE 68th Street to NE 60th Street
  • Westbound lane of NE 60th Street from Lakeview Drive to Lake Washington Boulevard
  • Northbound lane of Lake Washington Boulevard from NE 60th Street to Lake Street South 
  • Northbound lane of Lake Street South from Lake Washington Boulevard to Kirkland Avenue

12K Route

  • Southbound lane of Market Street from Waverly Way to Central Way
  • North and Southbound lanes of Waverly Way from Market Street to 6th Street West
  • Eastbound lane of Central Way from Market Street to Lake Street
  • North and Southbound lanes of Lake Street from Central Way to Kirkland Avenue
  • East and Westbound lanes of Kirkland Avenue from Lake Street to Main Street
  • Eastbound lane of Kirkland Avenue from Main Street to Kirkland Way
  • Eastbound lane of Kirkland Way from Kirkland Avenue to 6th Street 
  • Southbound lane of 6th Street from Kirkland Way to NE 68th Street
  • Southbound lane of 108th Avenue NE from NE 68th Street to NE 55th Street
  • Westbound lane of NE 55th Street from 108th Avenue NE to 106th Avenue NE

The 12k’s of Christmas hosts 3,000 athletes during the event which includes a Little Reindeer Run for kids, 5K run/walk and 12K run.  For event information, go to www.explorekirkland.com. Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
