Slide Guitar Fusion at KPC and "Scorched Earth" Comedy at Laughs

  • Experience the intriguing fusion of Appalachian blues and Indian slide guitar at the Kirkland Performance Center’s presentation of Slide to Freedom. Guitarists Doug Cox and Salil Bhatt team up with tabla player/vocalist Cassius Khan for the only Northwest performance. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $16/Choice and $20/Prime.
  • Comedian Marc Maron is headlining tonight at Laugh’s Comedy Spot in Totem Lake. His current show, “Scorching the Earth,” is based on his two divorces and anger problem. Maron has appeared on numerous shows including HBO, Conan, Letterman and Comedy Central Presents. Two showtimes tonight: the 18+ show is at 8 p.m.; the 21+ show is at 10 p.m. Tickets are $20.
  • The sun comes up at 6:58 a.m. and goes down at 5:48 p.m.
  • Trivia: On this day in 1987 at 10:09 a.m. a huge section of Husky Stadium, which was then under construction, collapsed creating a 250-ton pile of twisted steel in about 12 seconds. A buckled tube supporting the overhanging roof was identified earlier in the morning leading to a full evacuation so that no one was hurt, not even the iron workers’ mascot cat.
