Emergency Cooling Available at Kirkland Public Facilities

Kirkland residents and others needing reprieve from extreme temperatures are invited to visit Kirkland public facilities, including City Hall and public libraries.

The following is a press release from the city, detailing locations available for relief during this week's high temperatures. The buildings are closed July 4, but the temperature is expected to decrease gradually over the next several days.:

Kirkland, WA – Public buildings with air conditioning will be available for Kirkland residents seeking relief from the extremely hot weather taking place over the next few days.  The National Weather Service has announced an excessive heat warning in effect until 11 p.m. this evening.   Residents are encouraged to visit air conditioned places such as those listed below, a mall or movie theater.  Residents are also asked to check on relatives and neighbors, particularly those with health issues, and to never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even with the windows rolled down.  For current and future weather conditions visit the website at www.weather.gov/seattle.

Public buildings in Kirkland include the following.  Please note these buildings will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
