Delicious food can transport you instantly to a different time and place. It can bring you back to your childhood dinner table. It can catapult you across the world to your honeymoon in Italy. It can bring you places you’ve only dreamed of.

That’s doubly true if you’re also preparing the food.

If you’re looking for a great, kid-free escape, look no further than the cooking classes at Sur La Table in downtown Kirkland.

Classes are offered daily on topics ranging from cake decorating and wine, to French bistro fare and making homemade pasta. In general, classes are offered every evening, with additional late morning classes on Thursdays and Saturdays. From a Saturday morning “Breakfast Breads, Scones and Muffins” class, to a Wednesday evening class about “Handmade Sushi,” Sur La Table has classes for every interest and every palette. Some Saturday night classes are even promoted as date night, allowing couples to work side by side as they learn from their expert instructor.

Students participate in preparing all items on the class menu. And, students sample everything prepared during the session. Classes max out at 16 students to allow everyone an opportunity to participate.

Class reservations must be made in advance. Check here for a complete calendar of local classes.

So, this week, escape to Sur La Table for a fun, inspiring and satisfying escape into the wide world of food.
