Happy National Coffee Day! Tell Us How You Take Your Cup

Cream? Sugar? Hazelnut? Pumpkin spice? Give a shout out to your favorite cup of joe, or favorite server.

If the first words out of your mouth every morning are, “I’ll have a large coffee”—or if you can’t even speak until after you’ve had your java fix—there's a national holiday created especially for you.

America will put staunch tea drinkers to shame on National Coffee Day on Sept. 29, when coffee fiends can rejoice and celebrate their beloved bean.

Coffee was first brought to America in the mid-1600s in a shipment en route to “New Amsterdam,” now known as New York, according to the National Coffee Association. We have that shipment and the Boston Tea Party to thank for turning the nation into coffee drinkers.

Of course, every day is coffee day in the Northwest, and Kirkland is coffee crazy, judging by the list of shops here on the Kirkland Patch business directory. (Don't tell anyone, but our favorites are Urban Coffee Lounge, St. James Espresso, Caffe Rococo and Zoka).

If you don't want to spend $4 on coffee for one day, Krispy Kreme, with locations in Issaquah, Seattle and Tacoma, is giving away free coffee on Saturday, Sept. 29 at participating locations.

So tell us, what's your favorite way to serve coffee? Post a photo of your favorite, if you've got one. And give a shout-out to your favorite barista or coffee place in Kirkland!

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
