Kirkland residents are serious about fitness. Just take a look along Lake Washington Boulevard almost any day, especially if it is sunny. You'll see runners, joggers and walkers, lots of them. The trails of the city's parks are often busy with hikers and runners.

Nice enough place. I toured it a bit ago. Very chi-chi. But... I'm a swimmer. The pool is short (20, not 25 yards) and dirty. I could see why too... there was an elderly water aerobics class and I could -see- the powder rising from some of them. They ignored the "Shower before entering" signs and those are completely unenforced. And the pool is often dedicated to said aerobics, so not much opportunity for serious laps. But very nice squash courts and workout equipment. Great sauna and hot tubs. Just not a swimmer's paradise.
I have noticed many of the surveys focus on the 85th Street downtown only.
