PHOTO GALLERY: Kirkland Turns Festive Green for First Shamrock Run

About 1,000 colorful and costumed participants celebrated St. Paddy's Day Saturday with the 5-kilometer run, partying afterward at several downtown restaurants. Check out the festivities in our photo gallery.

Some 1,000 runners, walkers and baby stroller pushers turned out on a showery Saturday morning for the in Kirkland, afterward celebrating St. Patrick's Days in restaurants downtown.

Organizers from the Kirkland Downtown Association deemed it an overwhelming success, and the rain hardly dampened participants spirits, as you can in our photo gallery here. Check out the action!

I agree Carolyn, I had so much fun -- before, during and after the run. But let's bring the sunshine out next year!
