Local VFW Post, Senior Center to Honor Veterans on Friday

Veterans Day is today, Nov. 11.

The Redmond-based will commemorate Veterans Day on Friday at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue by remembering current and former members of the U.S. armed forces.

In the front of the Memorial Park, numerous large flags on display have been donated by family members of servicemen and women who have died -- flags that once adorned the caskets of those servicemen and women. The flags are flown on holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day, said Hank Kerns, CEO of Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Funeral Home.

The VFW event, at 11 a.m., will include guest speakers, a 21-gun salute and a Laying of the Wreaths Ceremony.
