• The posh downtown offers a “Kirkland Romantic Getaway Package.” Rates start at $549. It includes your selection of mattress style, dinner for two at Trellis, a couples massage at Penterra Spa, a bottle of sparkling wine, a dozen red roses and chocolate-covered strawberries – you have to order the latter three days in advance.
• The above Lake Washington at Carillon Point offers a “Spin the Bottle Package,” starting at $245, with luxury accommodations, a free in-room movie, $100 credit on dining at Bin on the Lake, Beach Café or in-room, late checkout and other goodies.
• I took my wife out to dinner for her birthday at at Carillon Point one recent evening and the ambience of that place was romantic indeed, with good food, good wine and a dreamy view out over the shimmering lake.
• You needn’t throw down huge cash to enjoy a romantic interlude on the lake in Kirkland, with all of the city’s wonderful waterfront parks. I’ve seen sunsets at that screamed “snuggle!” It is winter, of course, and no one guarantees sunsets around here. But bring a blanket and a couple cushions, some cheese, a baguette and wine, and who knows what might happen?
