Taxis Waiting for the Ferry in Downtown Kirkland, late 1940s

This photo just acquired for the Kirkland Heritage Society archives was likely taken in 1949.

If you remember a scene very much like this then you are older than 60, since this classic downtown Kirkland photograph was taken in the late 1940s.

The shot just came into the archives of the Kirkland Heritage Society, and it shows a line of taxis on Kirkland Avenue just east of the old ferry dock on Lake Washington, likely taken in 1949.

Notice the Burke & Farrar Real estate office? Today that location is home to restaurant, shown in the next photo. My how times change!
