Walk and Talk with Mayor McBride; Open Mic Night at Laughs

Things you might want to know today, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011.

  • This morning’s sunrise is at 6:25 a.m. and tonight’s sunset is at 7:54 p.m.
  • Laughs Comedy Spot in Totem Lake is hosting a free open mic night tonight at 8:30 p.m. Stretch your comedic legs and watch out for hecklers! This event is exclusive those aged 18 and older.
  • Lace up your sneakers and head to the Houghton Market Plaza (NE 68th Street and 108th Avenue NE) for the Feet First Walk and Talk with Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. McBride, along with Lisa McConnell of Eastside Trail Advocates, will lead a short walk through the Houghton neighborhood. Those who take part in this activity will see improvements made to the community to promote walking, as well as the importance of a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. Tickets for this event are between $10 and $15 and can be purchased here or at the event.
