Kids BICYCLE RODEO to kick off Bike Month
May is National Bike to School Month, and
Lakeview Elementary and the Community School are kicking it off with a Bike
Rodeo!
Bike
Month is designed to encourage people of all ages across the country to engage
in active transportation through cycling. In addition to being an enjoyable
activity, bicycling can lead to lifelong healthy habits. This year’s theme is
“Wheels in Motion,” making the connection between being healthy and active and academic achievement. Kids that ride their bikes to school arrive awake and ready to learn!
The Bike Rodeo is Thursday, May 1st, from
6-8pm on the Lakeview Elementary school playground, at 10400 N.E. 68th
St., Kirkland, WA 98033. Children who want to participate must bring a
bike, and must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
The Bike Rodeo will
feature bike skills workshops, a bike maintenance station, helmet sales/helmet
fitting, and more! This event is free. We encourage children to participate in the Bike Rodeo before biking to school so that they are able to practice
important traffic safety skills.
