Ten Reasons Why You Should Buy Your Tree From the Kirkland Kiwanis

KIWANIS IS a global organization of volunteers dedicated to serving the children of the world. Kirkland Kiwanis started in 1947 and has over 90 members. The club is involved in more than 30 areas of service in our community and abroad.

To raise funds for these worthy causes, Kiwanis is selling trees, wreaths, candy, and nuts during the holidays.

Here are just ten of the many reasons you should consider buying your holiday tree and goodies from Kiwanis this year:

1. One hundred percent of proceeds go to great causes near and far, such as homeless housing, eliminating tetanus, scouting, children's concerts, and Special Olympics.
2. The gorgeous noble firs start at only $40. Jay Henwood, vice president and nine-year member of Kiwanis, says "the trees are all hand-picked."
3. You'll find a mouth-watering selection of nuts and candies, ranging from gourmet lollypops for a dollar to twenty dollar gift boxes of chocolate-covered or roasted nuts. In between are high-quality See's truffles, toffee, peanut brittle, peppermints, and assorted chocolates, great to have on hand for holiday gifts. The prices are the same as you'd pay at the See's store.
4. There are free candy samples as well as complimentary hot cider and cocoa.
5. The friendly volunteers will trim your tree and even help you load it onto your car.
6. The tree lot is right across from and , so you can turn your trip into a fun outing.
7. Key Club members from , , and high schools earn community service hours, and learn about community service, by volunteering to help at the sale.
8. They sell three-foot tall "table top trees," as well as candle and wreath centerpieces, for twenty five dollars.
9. There's a good chance you'll run into friends or neighbors, because the lot is hopping. Jay says, "So far it's our best year ever!"

The lot is open from 10 am to 8 pm on weekends, and from 3 to 8 pm Monday through Friday. Although they prefer cash or checks, Visa and Mastercard are happily accepted.
