New Store Just for Cats Opens in Kirkland’s Houghton Village!

Ever wonder why your cat wakes you up at 3am?  Sleeps so much?  Is so fat?   Relieves itself where it shouldn’t?  Sheds all over you and your furniture?

The Whole Cat and Kaboodle in Kirkland’s Houghton Village is here to answer all of those questions- and to provide grooming and boarding services as well.    This store caters to cats only and the whole store is built from the perspective of the cat.  Even the products in the retail area are chosen as though by a cat- palatable and healthy foods, engaging toys, yummy treats, and tools to help correct unwanted behavior.

The store’s owner, Nancy Howard, a long time part of the Puget Sound rescue community, is passionate about helping people to see why cats do the things they do.  “Some of my grooming clients will ask if their cat was “good” for me.  All cats are good- just some are more scared than others.  I try to imagine what the cat is thinking and adjust my approach accordingly.  Getting groomed can be scary stuff for a cat.  But I know that they will feel so much better afterward!  Cats are prey animals as well as predators, so when a cat is dirty it feels vulnerable and depressed.  I hear time after time about how kitties are so frisky and happy after their grooms!!”

Stop in for a tour, some treats for your kitties or some good advice on how to understand your cat a little better.

Two favorites from this store- freeze-dried chicken treats (she gives samples to everyone that comes in) and the heat reflecting catnip mats made with organic catnip that she grows herself!
