Driver of Car in Fatal Juanita Drive Crash Booked for Vehicular Homicide

The driver who police say was at fault and appeared intoxicated after the head-on collision has been identified as 41-year-old Kelly Hudson.

A 41-year-old woman who Kirkland Police say was at fault in a fatal head-on crash on Juanita Drive Tuesday night has been booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

Kelly Hudson, whose hometown has not yet been released, showed signs of intoxication at the scene, Kirkland Police say. Furthermore, they say a police dispatcher was on the phone with a person reporting a “possible drunk driver” on Juanita Drive at the very moment of the crash.

Hudson was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and treated for minor injuries before being booked into the Seattle jail around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Kirkland Police Lt. Mike Murray said she will likely face arraignment Thursday.

Hudson allegedly crossed the centerline at about Northeast 120th Street just before 9 p.m. Tuesday and crashed head-on into a car heading the other way with four occupants. A woman in that car was pronounced dead at the scene after Kirkland firefighters cut off the top of the car to rescue the occupants. None of the victims has been identified. The other three were taken to Harborview and EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland.
