Firefighters Knock Down Kitchen Fire in South Kirkland Townhouse

The one occupant of the townhouse made it out safely, and the fire was put out quickly by the engine crew from Houghton Fire Station 22.

An engine crew from Houghton Fire Station 22 was first on the scene and quickly extinguished a fire Monday night at a townhouse in the 11000 block of NE 41st Drive in south Kirkland.

There was one occupant of the house at the time who made it out safely.

“It was just a small kitchen fire,” said Kirkland Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Jeffery. “Engine 22 was the first unit there and knocked it down quickly.”

The location is near the Kirkland/Bellevue boundary, and units from the Bellevue and Redmond fire departments also responded. Four fire engines, two ladder trucks and two aid cars responded, along with a command vehicle and a support truck.

Firefighters were called to the fire at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
