An engine crew from Houghton Fire Station 22 was first on the scene and quickly extinguished a fire Monday night at a townhouse in the 11000 block of NE 41st Drive in south Kirkland.
There was one occupant of the house at the time who made it out safely.
“It was just a small kitchen fire,” said Kirkland Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Jeffery. “Engine 22 was the first unit there and knocked it down quickly.”
The location is near the Kirkland/Bellevue boundary, and units from the Bellevue and Redmond fire departments also responded. Four fire engines, two ladder trucks and two aid cars responded, along with a command vehicle and a support truck.
Firefighters were called to the fire at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
