KPD Blotter: Cops pinch felony escapee, lift prints at burglarized home

Plus routine drug arrests, shoplifting and theft reports.

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department from Jan. 29 through Feb. 3.

Jan. 29

  • Two white women from Kirkland ages 45 and 75 were arrested at Costco on Rose hill for shoplifting after they were apparently found with nasal strips, New York steaks, burritos and an acid indigestion medication, for which they had not paid.

  • A 22-year-old white man from Redmond and a 24-year-old white female from Bellingham were arrested outside a restaurant in the Totem Lake just before midnight for possession of marijuana, hashish and Suboxone, an opiate used to treat addiction. Police had contacted them on a suspicious vehicle report.

Feb. 1

  • A 26-year-old white woman from Kirkland was arrested for harassment for allegedly violating a protection order at her mother’s residence on Northeast 120th Street in the Totem Lake area. Her 50-year-old mother had called police when the Kirkland woman knocked on the door. The police report also listed a 6-year-old white boy as a victim.
  • A 28-year-old white man from Lynnwood was arrested at a residence on Rose Hill’s Slater Avenue for an outstanding felony warrant from the Department of Corrections for escape.
  • A 39-year-old white man from Bellevue reported that someone had broken into a cargo trailer he had at a Totem Lake area storage facility during the previous month and stolen a 1996 Feathercraft folding-style sea kayak.

Feb. 3

  • Police took fingerprints while investigating a burglary at a 43-year-old Asian-Pacific Islander woman’s residence in Houghton, where some time that day someone had kicked in the front door. Stolen were an Apple iPad, Xbox 360, a 46-inch flat-screen television, a homemade desktop computer and monitor and a Dell 15-inch laptop, total value about $4,600.
  • A 21-year-old white Bothell man was arrested in the 8600 block of 114th Avenue Northeast on Rose Hill for suspicion of marijuana possession after being contacted by police as a suspect in a malicious mischief incident. Confiscated were less than 40 grams of pot and paraphernalia.
  • Police documented the theft of a catalytic converter from a Toyota truck parked in the north lot of Lake Washington Technical College on Rose Hill, sometime between noon and 3:15 p.m. The victim was a 37-year-old white male from Auburn.
