Kirkland Woman Alleges Police Brutality During Arrest in Federal Way

Megan Graham, 36, called 911 during the incident to report she was under attack.

A Kirkland woman is accusing Federal Way Police of brutality during an arrest outside an apartment complex last week.

Megan Graham, 36, told the Federal Way Mirror she was apparently stopped for using a cell phone while driving near a friend's apartment. When she attempted to take her dog into the apartment, Graham says one of the officers began attacking her, and she called 911. (Click above to listen to an audio recording of the 911 call.)

Federal Way Police say Graham resisted arrest and also attempted to strike an officer who had arrived for back-up. She faces charges of felony assault stemming from the incident, according to the Mirror, and is due in court on June 10.

Along with the Mirror, KIRO 7 and the New York-based blog Gawker have published photos of Graham with a black eye and severe bruising on the left side of her face. Police say they are reviewing the use of force during the arrest.
