Vehicular Homicide Trial Rescheduled in Kirkland Bicycle Fatality

A judge granted a continuance to Jan. 14 in the trial of Nathan Godwin of Redmond, who prosecutors say was speeding and driving under the influence when he hit Bradley Nakatani of Kirkland last December.

The vehicular homicide trial of a 27-year-old Redmond man in connection with the death last December of a Kirkland bicyclist has been rescheduled for Jan. 14.

Nathan Jeremie Godwin is charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving for allegedly running over software engineer Bradley J. Nakatani, 36, of Kirkland, on Dec. 8. Prosecutors say Godwin was speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs when he hit Nakatani at 3 a.m. on Northeast 124th Street in the Totem Lake area.

Dan Donohoe, a spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office, said Godwin’s defense attorney requested a continuance because an expert witness would not be available in December. Trial had been set for Monday, Dec. 3.

Godwin remains free on bail of $500,000 and is facing a standard sentencing range under state guidelines of 36 to 48 months in prison.

Know one knows the truth, so how can you say pathetic. What if you hit someone while you were driving and you had people saying things about you like you are doing to this young man.

In the City of Kirkland you need a City-issued business license to do Door-to-door solicitation. IRead More am willing to bet they did not have the license. Call the police next time.
