Commuters should find alternative routes due to the complete road closure of 114th Avenue NE (just north of  NE 85th Street ) for night work October 24-28This project is part of the NE 85th Street Corridor Improvements Project.

Work will be done at night to avoid major disruption to traffic flow while the contractor performs open trench construction on the storm line work across the full right of way on 114th Avenue NE. Beginning Monday, October 24 night work hours will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM each day. Traffic control signage and a signed detour will be in place.

Also, a complete night time road closure has been tentatively scheduled again later in November. The project is anticipated to be complete by the end of November.

The city says the project provides a second southbound-to-eastbound left turn lane at the intersection and replaces traffic signal controller equipment with Intelligent Transportation System improvements (video detection, connection to City networks, and new computer controller for remote monitoring and control).  These improvements are expected to reduce congestion and allow the intersection to maintain the City's desired level of service. Sidewalk and curb enhancements at all four corners of the intersection will improve pedestrian safety. The project improves surface water quality with new facilities, and makes water utility adjustments where impacted.
