King's Way Bumps LW Lacrosse Team From Playoffs

Kang's season ends in opening round with 12-8 loss.

Clayton Frank scored five goals to lead King’s Way into the state lacrosse quarterfinals with a 12-8 opening-round playoff victory over , Tuesday at Columbia River High School in Vancouver. 

With the win, the Knights now face Northeast Conference regular season champion Mercer Island on May 20 at Mercer Island High School.

King’s Way’s Jack Beall scored three goals and added four assists, while Connor Harwood netted two goals. Tyler Preston grabbed 17 ground balls and Max Zandstra had 11 saves in goal to lead the King’s Way defense.

King’s Way took a 3-2 lead by the end of the first and added four unanswered goals in the second for a healthy 7-2 margin at the intermission. In the fourth, the two matched each other 4-4 as King’s Way took an 11-6 lead into the final quarter.  In the fourth, Lake Washington added two more goals but was unable to overcome the Knights’ scoring in the first half.

 For the Kangs, Jake Bernstein scored three goals, Carson Brown netted two, while Cooper Ramstead, Ben Anderson, and Cody Bernstein all had solo goals. Coin Story led the Lake Washingtron defense with four ground balls and Jonah Friedl had 11 saves.

The Knights finished the season in fourth place in the Southwest Conference with a 9-7-0 record finishing the regular season. Lake Washington wrapped up their season losing three straight to finish 9-9-0.
