Kirkland's Mitchie Brusco Finishes Fifth in X Games

In his first X Games, Kirkland's 14-year-old skateboard phenom is beaten by his much older buddy, Brazil's Bob Burnquist.

Kirkland's Mitchie Brusco, 14, finished fifth in his first appearance at the X Games Friday, scoring 81.33 on his only run, landing a 360-degree turn following by a 540-degree turn off the quarterpipe.

Brazilian Bob Burnquist, 34, an X Games veteran and good friend of Brusco's, won the Skateboard Big Air event in Los Angeles. He landed a 180 over the 70-foot gap without grabbing his board and then a 540 with a double-grab off the quarterpipe.

Check out an LA Times story about the event here and see our recent profile of Brusco here.
