VIEWFINDER: Marymoor Velodrome Gears Up for New Racing Season

The Redmond track's official season begins this Friday, featuring cyclists from all over the Eastside and Seattle area.

The wheels are spinning on a new racing season at the Velodrome at .

This summer's  — an Eastside tradition featuring world-class athletes — begins this Friday, June 3. "The Show," as it's called, provides exciting action for racers and spectators alike.

Athletes from Redmond, Kirkland and all over the Puget Sound region compete under the spotlights while family and friends picnic on the lawn or enjoy the view from the stands. The popular "Kiddie Kilo" for children is on the first and third Fridays of each month.

The velodrome has been in operation at Marymoor Park since 1975 and is operated by the nonprofit Marymoor Velodrome Association. Classes and racing are available for all skill levels. Visit the velodrome website for more information.

Last Friday marked the end of the track's preseason racing, and Patch photographer Dave Greer was there to capture some of the action.
