Pet of the Week: Sprite is the Little Kitten That Could

Siblings Sprite and Bizzy need a home for two.

Meet Sprite and his sister Bizzy. This pair of four-month old cuties was found living on a beach with their mom and siblings. When they were brought to , they were just two weeks old. They were all very small, but Sprite ... well, he was absolutely tiny, weighing in at just 5 ounces. Although he was being nursed by his mama, his foster mom supplemented him with kitten formula as he had some serious catching up to do.

As Sprite grew and became mobile, it became apparent that there was something wrong with one of his front legs. It had a floppiness about it and he wasn't able to use it, even for balance. A visit to the vet confirmed our concerns - there was no bone growing between Sprite's paw and elbow. His tiny little paw was wrapped in hopes of providing temporary stability. Once strong enough, the dysfunctional leg would be removed.

None of this slowed Sprite down. He learned to walk, run, jump and climb in perfect kitten fashion and when it was time for his leg to be removed, he weathered the surgery (at only one pound!) and was back to kitten mayhem in record time. Having three fully functioning legs is plenty for little Sprite. He runs as fast as his siblings and climbs the tallest cat trees without pause. If you're looking for a dog-like kitty, Sprite is your cat.

Sprite comes when you call his name and insists on being near you at all times. If he can't find you, he will let out a very raspy 'meow' that lets you know he’s looking for you. Sprite has a deep, rumbly purr that starts when he sees you. He loves (actually insists) on snuggling in your lap or in your arms when he’s not playing. He enjoys playing with a furry mouse or anything that rattles - or moves, in general. Sprite also greatly enjoys wrestling with his sister Bizzy.

Speaking of Bizzy, she is Sprite's sister and best friend. They need to be adopted as a pair as they would be lost without one another. Bizzy is also very energetic and what a funny little girl. Bizzy’s name describes her perfectly - she’s very busy ... places to go, things to see, other kittens to jump on and toes to chase. Bizzy is a sweet little girl that calls to you if she has “lost” you in the house and gives you a huge purr as soon as she sees you. Bizzy also enjoys a good furry mouse, crinkle ball or laser pointer. She will be a great addition to any family and has a TON of kitty love to share!

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
