Francesca Lyman has for many years worked as a journalist, editor and invited speaker on environmental and health issues. The author of an early book on global warming, The Greenhouse Trap, she also wrote a children's book, Inside The Dzanga Sangha Rain-Forest. Her MSNBC column, Your Environment, won the Society of Environmental Journalists' First Prize for excellence in reporting.

A firm believer in the importance of strong local reporting, especially today, she looks forward to contributing personality profiles and other pieces to the Patch. She loves writing about people: “It’s a little like the best theater---getting inside people’s thoughts and feelings.”

Before moving to Seattle with her family, she taught in the Humanities Dept. at The Cooper Union in New York, and served as Editor of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s magazine. She lives in Holmes Point and enjoys travelling the world with her husband Bob Aglow, a former TV producer, and son Devin Aglow, a senior at Western Washington University.
