Hudson, Godwin Trials Pushed to September

Two vehicular homicide trials are set to begin later this summer after several months of delay.

Two cases of vehicular homicide stemming from fatal Kirkland crashes are set to go to trial in early September following several months of delays.

Nathan Jeremie Godwin of Redmond is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs when he hit and killed Kirkland software engineer Bradley Nakatani as Nakatani was biking in the Totem Lake area on Dec. 8, 2011.

Godwin's trial was originally scheduled for December 2012 but has been delayed multiple times and was most recently continued from June 3 to Sept. 9, 2013. If convicted, he faces between three and four years in prison.

Kelly Hudson of Kirkland was charged with one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault in an Aug. 7, 2012, crash on Juanita Drive that killed 81-year-old Joyce Parsons.

Charging documents say Hudson admitted to police that she had consumed wine and taken a prescription anti-anxiety drug before she allegedly crossed the centerline in her minivan and struck a car head-on with four people in it.

Parsons, who lived just blocks away from Hudson on Finn Hill, died at the scene. Parsons' brother, Arthur Kamm of Bellevue, was seriously injured in the collision.

Hudson's trial has also been delayed several times and was most recently pushed to Sept. 11. If convicted of all charges, she faces between 12 and 16 years in prison.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and remain free on bond.
